Dave Disselbrett
I started carving Boy Scout neckerchief slides "a lot of" years ago. From that moved to animals and small figures. About 15 years ago I started spending more time carving, concentrating on small caricatures.
In addition to the bottle stops I carve a variety of different caricatures, over 50 different figures; old salts and sea captains, baseball players, golfers, fishermen, uncle Sams, Santas, painters, bears, bunnies, moose, pigs, frogs, ducks, beavers, hippos, snowmen and pumpkin heads.

Mike Reifel
My first carving, 18 years ago, was a stylized relief carving for the front of a house being remodeled. Since then I have carved of coat of arms, book covers, clocks, wall hangings and signs for civic buildings, businesses and individuals.
I especially enjoy carving figures of legend and myth; dragons, wizards, green men, phoenix and griffins. Many of my carvings are from wood composites and inlays that emphasize and contrast the beauty of the woods used. In the last couple of years I have begun to carve flowers that I oil paint. You can see Mike’s web site here (this will open a new site).

Over 30 years ago I took a class in Mendocino Art Center and carved a Mallard duck from redwood. I like the result and continue carving ducks, birds and fish. I carve signs, statues and figures in a realistic style.

I have been carving about 5 years off and on. The last 2 years most of my spare time has been devoted to wood carving. Most of my carving are chip carving or relief carvings (hand carved signs).
